So only about 3,000 of these guns may have found their way on the American market.Īnother plus from a collector's viewpoint of this rifle is that its old German commercial proof marks (Crown/B, Crown/U, Crown/N, Crown/G) today are still valid in Germany (in contrast to the military acceptance marks of the 1939-45 period) and therefore new proof marks are not necessary. I got some first-hand information that about 5,000 of them have been re-imported in the second half of the 1970s to Germany - many of them still in their original sealed crates they had been delivered with in the 1930s, together with all accessoires (bayonet, test target, sling, muzzle protector). I'm much less skilled in rifle shooting (shooting mostly handguns), but can hold the "8" for sure, sometimes even the "9". A shooting club friend and experienced ordnance rifle competition shooter tried it out, too and easily held the "10" at 100 m from the sandbag with 3 shots.
